Newmills House
is an old family house built in about 1780, where Lois-May and David
offer a warm welcome in an informal atmosphere. The house was the
original dower house for the Curriehill Estate and many of the period
features remain including a large, comfortable drawing room and an
acre of well laid out garden with an historic yew hedge, behind which
there is a tennis court.
Newmills is 8 miles from the centre of Edinburgh and adjacent to a main bus route. Many guests find the bus is the most convenient method of transport into Edinburgh avoiding any parking problems and the need to remember the route home! Edinburgh Airport is 10 minutes away, Glasgow 50 minutes, Stirling ("The Gateway to the Highlands") 40 minutes and Inverness 3 hours. Newmills therefore provides an ideal base for touring in the Central Belt of Scotland, for visiting many of the historic buildings in the area and for gaining rapid access to the centres of Scotland's two largest and most beautiful cities while avoiding the noise and hassle of city centres. We would be delighted to help you plan your daily and evening entertainment!
